The Reddingers go abroad blogs are back!

For this one, let's start out with a quick game of $100 Pyramid….

Flexibility, Patience is a Virtue, Go with the Flow, Accept the Things you Cannot Change

Things to remember when you're traveling - DING DING DING

Tammy's Day:
With no more warning that an email reminding me to check-in, my flight to DC this morning was changed from 11:30AM to 6:30AM. Poor Sarah has to run to Reagan airport and sit in the cell phone lot waiting for the "I have my baggage" call, which usually happens 1/2 hour to 45 minutes after the plane lands. Baggage pick up of course comes after the plane lands, the bus takes you to the terminal, you rush to find a restroom after being stuck on the tarmac, you get your bearings, look for your luggage on the wrong carousel and you realize that your baggage has been waiting for you!

On a positive note I did get to take a power nap at Sarah's enjoying the bed to myself as she "worked" on Christmas Eve. It was great to have a place to sit. (Sarah wrote this, remembering the issue I had in Russia)

Sarah's Day:
So as many of you know, I am a planner.  I had today all planned out.  Drop dog off at 7am, get to work at 8am, work until 12:30pm, get home at 1pm, pick Mom up from airport at 1:30pm and drive us both to Dulles.  The call announcing that Mom would be arriving earlier than expected (but only after she retrieved her baggage :) threw a wrench in that plan! I picked up Mom after reading in the cell lot for so long that the police nearly kicked me out.  I then dropped her and Ellie back off at my place and proceeded to work, only two hours later than expected. After a few hours of working, I made a dreaded Christmas Eve run to Target to replace the hair straightener that decided to break this morning of all days.  After navigating that mess, I was confident that my new plan was solid, then I got a text from Mom saying that our flight was delayed 3 hours, ugh….

Our Day:
After a quick trip to the Apple store to replace a power cord that the cat chewed through and an hour in line waiting to check our bags (we were only third in line), we are now still sitting in Dulles airport because our flight to Paris is delayed from 7:00 PM departure to 10:00PM.

On a positive note - Dulles has done a "fabulous" job decorating for Christmas.

So now we have eaten, walked through the airport, charged our electronics and are listening to the airport "MUSAK" (hardly can be called music). Sarah tells me I need to learn to tune it out --

Waiting . . . . . . .
